In view of the increasing number of dengue cases, a separate 50-bed ward has been set up in District Hospital in Mohali.

Kumar Rahul, Director, National Health Mission, Punjab, and Dr Adarshpal Kaur, Civil Surgeon, stated this after visiting different wards and interacting with patients in the hospital today.

Divulging details, Kumar Rahul said a special 50-bed ward had been set up on the fourth floor of the hospital for the confirmed and suspected dengue patients. The patients would be given treatment free of cost. In addition, the number of beds with mosquito nets had been increased to 30.

Dr Adarshpal said in view of the increasing number of dengue patients in the emergency ward, the hospital authorities had been directed to deploy more doctors and nurses.

She said any shortcoming in the management of the hospital would not be tolerated and better and quality health care facilities would be provided to the patients.

Kumar Rahul and Dr Adarshpal Kaur appealed to people to take all necessary precautions to save themselves from dengue fever and not allow stagnation of water in and around their homes.

SMO Dr Vijay Bhagat, Dr HS Cheema and other officers were also present on the occasion.
