Now, patients will not have to wait in long queues to deposit fee for lab tests at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. The hospital has introduced online system for the payment of fee.

An official said a simple user interface had been created on the GMCH website for the patients to pay charges for lab tests online.

A patient has to enter the OPD card number and mobile phone number. On the same window, the user will have to select the test as prescribed by the doctor. The patient has to save that information, following which a requisition number will be displayed on the screen. The requisition number will also be sent via SMS on the registered mobile number of the patient.

After making the payment online, the patient has to take the requisition number at the token allotment counter to get token number for the test.

An official said the trial run for the facility was going on for the past one week. After making some required changes, the facility has been started for the convenience of patients.

A total of 1,778 different lab tests are conducted at the hospital. On an average, nearly 12,000 medical tests are conducted in the OPDs and nearly 8,000 are conducted in Emergency and inpatient departments every day.

Dr BS Chavan, Director-Principal, GMCH, said the online system of payment of fee for lab tests had been launched to save the precious time of patients and their attendants. “More such facilities are in the pipeline to provide relief to the patients,” he added.
