Payas wins 2 doubles titles, clinches silver in singles

Payas Jain, an MBA First-Year student of Chitkara University, completed a doubles double at the WTT Feeder Vadodara 2026 Table Tennis Tournament by winning mixed and men’s doubles titles, at the SAMA Indoor Sports Complex in Vadodara, Gujarat. He also won a silver medal in the men’s singles event, which concluded last evening.

The Indian paddlers won three out of the five events at the inaugural WTT Feeder. In the mixed doubles final, unseeded Jain and Syndrela Das fought back after losing the opening game to beat second seed Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade 3-1.

The title winning pair lost the first game 8-11, but bounced back strongly in the next three with an 11-9 11-3 11-6 result. In the men’s doubles, top seed Jain and Ankur Bhattacharjee clinched the title by overpowering Akash Pal and Mudit Dani 3-1. The pair bagged the opening set after a see-saw battle 12-10, followed by 11-7 win in the next. However, in the third set, Pal-Dani logged a 7-11 win. In the next set, the top seed pair returned with an 11-8 win to pocket the title. In the men’s single event, Jain went down fighting 2-3 against Manush Shah.

He took the first two games 7-11 10-12, before Shah rallied to win the next three 11-6 11-6 11-8.
