Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) recorded a seven-run win over Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) to lift the 6th Rama Atray Memorial Women’s Cricket Tournament, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium in Mullanpur.
After winning the toss, the PCA eves posted 203 in allotted 50 overs before getting all out. Pragati Singh again rose to the occasion and posted 61, while Avreet Sandhu added 34. Srishti Rajput (28), Neetu Singh (21) and Prayanka Mutreja (20) made important contributions with the bat. With four wickets, Sonal Thakur was pick of the bowlers, while Jyoti Thakur pocketed two. Neena Chaudhary, Nikita M Chauhan and Nikita S Chauhan claimed one wicket each.
In reply, HPCA team were bundled out at 196 in 44.1 overs. Sonal (62) did try her best, along with Nikita (47), former Indian wicketkeeper Sushma Verma (46) and Kashish Verma (14), but failed to log a win. Priyanka Mutreja claimed four wickets for PCA and Komal Preet Kaur picked two. Priya Kumari, Pragati Singh and Mannat Kashyap also claimed one wicket each.
Mannat Kashyap of PCA was named ‘Best Bowler’ of the tournament, while Kashish Verma of HPCA was adjusted ‘Best Batter’. The ‘Best All-rounder’ and ‘Best Player’ award went to former Indian cricketer Sushma Verma. Priyanka Mutreja of PCA was named ‘Player for the Final’.
Chander Sekhar, former Punjab DGP, awarded the winners. The title winners took home Rs 75,000, while the runners-up team bagged Rs 50,000.
