Chandigarh, July 18

Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the Nelson Mandela decade (2019-2028) of peace, the World Peace Rally team received a warm welcome as they reached Chandigarh from Manali today.

A.S.Rai ADG flagged off the rally today as the team left for Jaipur on their way back.

The team, travelling in seven cars, will pass through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, J&K, and Himachal Pradesh during the 20-day expedition, covering over 5,000 km.

Shree Sai Women and Children’s Welfare Trust conceived the idea of the World Peace Rally in 2019 to spread the message of peace. Its members include SI Sukhdev Singh and SI Harjit Singh of Punjab Police, Constable Shravan Majirana of Gujarat Police and Head Constable Babubhai Damor, also of Gujarat Police. “At least 20 peace messengers, other than the physically challenged messengers, are also part of the rally,” said BM Sood, Managing Trustee, Shree Sai Women and Children’s Welfare Trust and Roti Bank, Ahmedabad.
