Pedestrian dies in hit-&-run

CHANDIGARH:In a hit-and-run case, a 74-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was hit by an Activa rider near Kiran Cinema in Sector 22.

In a hit-and-run case, a 74-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was hit by an Activa rider near Kiran Cinema in Sector 22. The victim was admitted to the PGI where he later succumbed to his injuries.  

According to the police, the victim, identified as Brij Mohan Dhand, a resident of Sector 22, was hit by a scooter, bearing a registration number of Ludhiana, on February 22.

The scooter driver, Priyanka Sharma, a resident of Sector 23 who is a student of the PU, sped away from the spot after the accident. However, later she was arrested and released on bail.

The victim was rushed to the PGI where he succumbed to his injuries on February 23. 

The police said a case of rash driving, causing death by negligence and causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others had been registered against the scooterist at the Sector 17 police station.
