CHANDIGARH: The Department of Clinical Photography, PGI, has achieved one more feat as its documentary film, ‘Diabetic Foot: Kadam’, has been nominated under the competition category for International Science Film Festival (ISFF) of India, which is going to be organised in Kolkata next month.

The Department of Clinical Photography, PGI, has achieved one more feat as its documentary film, ‘Diabetic Foot: Kadam’, has been nominated under the competition category for International Science Film Festival (ISFF) of India, which is going to be organised in Kolkata next month.

According to Abhijeet Singh, who has made the film, this is the 2nd consecutive time when the Department of Clinical Photography, PGI, Chandigarh, had been recognised and selected for the film festival. Earlier, PGI films were selected and screened in the 9th National Science Film Festival, Chandigarh.

This time, four films made by BSc students of medical animation and audio visual creation had also been submitted for the ISFF-2019. These include two short films titled ”Fuelish” and “Addicted” and two documentaries titled “Kacha Khatra” and “Pyoone”.

The IISF-2019 is the fifth edition since its inception in 2015. The first and second IISF were held in New Delhi, third in Chennai and the fourth was held in Lucknow.

The 5th edition of the IISF will be held in Kolkata from November 5 to 8. Union Minister for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences and Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan announced this in New Delhi.

Dr Harsh Vardhan said: “IISF-2019 will play a crucial role in promoting love and passion for science among students by bringing science outside the lab. It is time to make science a ‘jan andolan’.”

The Science and Technology Minister informed the gathering that the theme for this year’s festival is “RISEN India-Research, Innovation, and Science Empowering the Nation”.
