Chandigarh: PGI meet focuses on AI-driven health care
PHASECON-26 organised by the Public Health Association for Students' Edification
A three-day students' conference, PHASECON-26, organised by the Public Health Association for Students' Edification (PHASE), concluded at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. Held under the aegis of the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, the conference centred on the theme "Evidence-Based, AI Enabled: Public Health 2.0".
The conference was inaugurated on February 13 by PGIMER Director Vivek Lal. More than 160 delegates participated in the event, which brought together experts from institutions including World Health Organisation South-East Asia Regional Office, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi; Panjab University, University of Surrey, among others.
In his inaugural address, Dr Lal highlighted the importance of student-led academic platforms in shaping future public health leaders. He stressed the need to strengthen health systems through innovation in infrastructure, governance and technology. He noted the potential of artificial intelligence in advancing healthcare delivery.
The scientific programme featured plenary sessions, keynote lectures, panel discussions and academic competitions.
Pre-conference workshops on sample size calculation and systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted on February 12. The conference concluded with a valedictory session, prize distribution and presentation of a conference summary.
