CHANDIGARH: A local court today granted bail to an accused in the alleged PGI MS/MD paper leak scam after the CBI failed to file a reply on the bail application.

Chandigarh, September 17

A local court today granted bail to an accused in the alleged PGI MS/MD paper leak scam after the CBI failed to file a reply on the bail application.

Accused T Radha, who was arrested by the CBI from Hyderabad on September 13, 2019, filed a bail application in the court on Monday.

While granting the bail, the court observed: “No useful purpose will be served by keeping the accused behind bars. Moreover, co-accused P Lalitha has already been granted anticipatory bail.” The bail was granted subject to furnishing bail bonds in the sum of Rs 1 lakh with one local surety in the like amount. The court on Monday directed the CBI to file a reply on the bail application filed by T Radha.

The accused submitted that she was falsely implicated in the case as it was registered on source information. She stated that investigation had been completed and no recovery was to be made from her. She stated the CBI had filed report against 26 persons  on December 24, 2014, in which names of 10 persons were mentioned who were not chargesheeted. She stated that her name was added in the supplementary report in August 2016. — TNS
