Panchkula, July 27

After imposing a ban on single-use plastic, the Panchkula Municipal Corporation has now launched a mobile application on which people can file a complaint about violations.

MC Commissioner Dharamveer Singh said not only the sale of single-use plastic, but its production, import, distribution and use had been banned. He said some people and shopkeepers were still using the banned items. The government now came up with an application on which people could lodge complaints, he added. The MC chief assured of taking action on such complaints.

Dharamveer appealed to the residents to carry bags along when going out for shopping. “If any shopkeeper gives you a polythene bag, refuse to take it and also explain to the shopkeeper that polythene is harmful to our environment,” he added.
