Police to bring in software for transparent transfers

In a bid to bring transparency, transfers in the Police Department will be done through a software. This was stated by the new UT DGP, Sanjay Beniwal.

The DGP said he was soon going to introduce a software and with its use, transfers would be done without anyone’s involvement. “This will eliminate the scope of corruption and favouritism in the process,” he added. 

Those who have remained on one post for three years will also be automatically transferred through the digital process.

The Chandigarh Police have already adopted a software-based rotation-wise deployment of police personnel at the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB). The decision to introduce the software to assign duties to the IRB personnel was taken after complaints about money exchanging hands during the process were received. A similar software was introduced in the PCR wing to assign duties.

Police to hold programme on skill development 

Beniwal said the Police Department was soon going to come up with a skill-development programme, which would aim at empowering youth, women and other members of society. Under the programme, participants would be imparted skills that could help them get a job. 

“We will try that these skill-development programmes are run at the police stations so that children and youth could have an interaction with the police force,” said the DGP.

The programme will also aim for a drug-free society.

Khaki rejig: Milind is now SP(Hqs)

Chandigarh: The UT Administration on Monday designated Milind Mahadeo Dumbere, a 2006-batch AGMUT-cadre IPS officer, as the SP (Headquarters). According to the orders of the UT Administration, Milind will also have the additional charge of Assistant Commandant, Home Guards and Communications. In its order, the Administration also entrusted the charge of Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) to 

SSP (Law and Order) Nilambari Jagdale. The charge of SP (Vigilance) has been assigned to Ravi Kumar, who presently holds the charge of SP (Crime and Operations). Meanwhile, UT DGP Sanjay Beniwal ordered that the Women and Child Support Unit (WCSU) of the Chandigarh Police, which was presently under SP (Operations) Ravi Kumar, 

would now be looked after by SSP Nilambari Jagdale. A decision to transfer the command of the WSCU was taken on Monday. TNS
