Chandigarh, December 11
The Chandigarh Badminton Association will host a three-day Pro Masters Badminton League at the Sector 38 Sports Complex from December 13 to 15. The tournament will be played under the auspices of the Badminton Association of India (BAI).
Around 120 International and national masters players — including Harjit Singh, Amrish Shinde, JBS Vidyadhar, Shrikant Bakshi, Jasheel Ismail, Jason Xavier, Vijay Lancy, Sanave Thomas, Ajit Umarani, Neelima Chowdary and Deepthi CH — will participate in this championship.
The tournament will have participation of six teams — Wristy Masters, Shining Stars, Maratha Warriors, Himalayan Snow Leopards, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Hyderabad Warriors.
The teams will play matches against each other in the league format. The tournament format includes 75 years, 80 years, 90 years, 100 years and 110 years men’s doubles and 75 years and 80 years mixed doubles.
All the matches will be officiated by BAI and national officials.
The winner of the tournament will be awarded Rs 6 lakhs, while the runners-up will get a purse of Rs 3 lakhs.
Earlier, the players were selected to represent their respective clubs in Hyderabad on November 18. Tejdeep Singh Saini (Director Sports) will inaugurate the championship along with Surinder Mahajan, secretary of the Chandigarh Badminton Association.
