Panjab University’s former registrar and DUI Prof AK Bhandari (62) from the Department of Mathematics breathed his last on Monday at the PGI.
Bhandari had worked as the visiting professor at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, and was elected as the Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad, in 2002.
Bhandari is survived by his wife and two children. He had served the university for 33 years. “We took him to the PGI, where he was diagnosed with pericarditis,” said Ranjana. A condolence meeting was organised by the university. University VC Raj Kumar and colleagues expressed grief on his demise. — TNS
