PU gears up for rose festival

CHANDIGARH: With the theme ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, the tenth edition of the PU Rose Festival will commence on February 8 at Prof RC Paul Rose Garden on the PU campus.

With the theme ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, the tenth edition of the PU Rose Festival will commence on February 8 at Prof RC Paul Rose Garden on the PU campus.

Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Horticulture), PU, said the objective behind organising the festival was to create awareness about keeping the environment green and clean and to explore the hidden talents of students.

During the three-day festival, various competitions will be arranged for students belonging to different age groups, including schoolchildren and those from colleges and universities.

Nooran sisters to perform on last day

  • For infants, the ‘Rose Prince and Rose Princess’ competition on Sunday.
  • A three-day exhibition-cum-workshop on theme ‘Natural Biodiversity’.
  • An art workshop ‘Golshan-2019’.
  • Artistes from Rajasthan to perform on all three days. 
  • Fashion competition on theme ‘Bollywood 2019’.
  • Folk orchestra by Vijay Yamla, grandson of famous Punjabi folk singer Ustad Yamla Jatt at 6:30 pm on Saturday, followed by a laughter show by stand-up comedians and mimicry artistes.
  • A performance by Nooran Sisters on concluding day
