Chandigarh, June 27

Panjab University has announced that the elections to the Panjab University Syndicate will be held on July 2. As per the schedule, the elections will be held at the Senate Hall.

The elections to choose two members of the Syndicate from medical sciences will be held at 9 am, followed by elections for two members each from law at 10 am, languages at 11 am, arts at 12 noon, science at 2 pm and combined faculties at 3 pm.

The one-year term of the last Syndicate ended in December 2020, but the elections could not be held due to repeated delays in the Senate polls amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The Syndicate has the powers to consider and make recommendations to the Senate in the matters that include appointment of officers of Class A, affiliation and disaffiliation of colleges, recommendations of the board of finance relating to the annual budget and supplementary grants.

Meanwhile, the university will organise a meeting of the Senate on July 5. The main agenda will be preparation of the SSR report to be submitted to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council ahead of its visit.
