Chandigarh, January 23

Creating a history, Pukhraj Singh Brar aced the par-four 17th hole of the Chandigarh Golf Course (CGC) today. The 12-handicapper hit his driver, a Callaway Rouge 10.5 degree, over the trees directly into the green for the first-ever hole-in-one at the 17th.

A mechanical engineer working in Pune, Brar, son of a former CGC captain, decided to try his hand at the game during the Covid pandemic as he is currently working from home. Brar’s weekend round turned sensational when he went for the green with the driver on the 17th.

“It was a windy day, which made the course challenging. I was driving the ball well and my gut feeling was to go straight in line with the green through a gap between the trees over the tubewell,” Brar said.

Brar said: “The shot was right of the centre, bang on target, and the gamble paid off. The forurball playing ahead of us was still on the green and saw the ball roll into the hole. The end result of a hole-in-one is an unforgettable moment since I started golf recently!”
