Punjab Marathon on March 31

Chandigarh, January 25

The Punjab Sports Department will host the Punjab Dailyworld Marathon here on March 31. The theme of the event is ‘Energising the youth for a tandrust Punjab’.  

The participants can compete in 42km full marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km runs and 5km fun run, the orgnaisers said here on Friday. A 5km run will be simultaneously held in all the districts of the state, they added. 

Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi said the winners will be awarded Rs 20 lakh. 

While the winners of the full marathon in both the male and female categories would be awarded Rs 2 lakh each, the winners of the half-marathon would receive Rs 1.25 lakh each. There would be separate prizes for the veteran participants, the orgnaisers informed. — TNS
