Punjabi singer Harrdy Sandhu detained by Chandigarh Police
Punjabi singer and Bollywood actor Harrdy Sandhu was detained by Chandigarh Police just before his musical performance at a fashion show at the Exhibition ground in Sector 34 here on Saturday.
Sandhu was taken to the Sector 34 police station from the stage for performing without permission. He was, however, let go after the organisers showed the required permission regarding the fashion show and music.
The issue left the singer and the organisers upset, who took up the matter with higher authorities.
Sources said Sandhu left the city without performing at the event. The organisers of the fashion show could not be contacted for comments.
After singers Karan Aujla and Diljit Dosanjh's live shows at Sector 34 in December last year, the UT Administration had decided that no big live concerts or similar large gatherings would be allowed at the Sector 34 ground.
The UT Administration had shifted the venue for Punjabi singer AP Dhillon's show to the Rally Ground in Sector 25. The organisers had initially sought the permission for the Sector 34 ground.
