Rain fails to dampen spirit on Day 2 of Rose Fest

Though rain affected the second day of the 48th Rose Festival, cultural functions, performances and competitions were held as per schedule on Saturday. Newly wed couple contest and Rose Prince and Princess competitions were also held on the second day.

Manoj Parida, Adviser to the UTAdministrator, took a round of the Rose Garden along with wife Lipi Parida. He appreciated beautiful decorations and arrangements of flowers in the garden, besides various competitions for the general public. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, welcomed the Adviser.

The main attractions of the day were a puppet show for children at the Rose Garden. Besides, various cultural programmes were organised by artistes of the North Zone Culture Centre (NZCC) and students from schools and colleges in the city.

Different competitions and shows, including kite flying, Lavani, traditional folk dance of Maharshtra , Bihu, traditional folk dance of Assam and Behropia, traditional folk dance of Rajasthan, were also organised at the Rose Festival on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh, will distribute prizes among winners of different competitions held during the 48th Rose Festival on Sunday at 3.30 pm.
