Punjab and Chandigarh have witnessed a sudden change in weather conditions, bringing relief from the intense heatwave.

The Meteorological Centre Chandigarh has issued an orange alert for the next two days, warning of thunderstorms and lightning activity. It is expected that intermittent showers may disrupt the match, though there is no forecast of heavy rain.

The Mullanpur stadium is equipped with a herringbone drainage system, which allows play to resume within 30 minutes even after heavy rain. However, any delay due to weather conditions could dampen fan expectations.

As per the forecast, the weather is likely to remain cloudy throughout the evening, with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong surface winds.

On the cricketing front, Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings are enjoying one of their best IPL seasons. Apart from the success of the opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, Iyer has led the side strongly, with the team functioning like a well-oiled unit.

Last season, they defended the lowest total in IPL history, and in their previous outing, they chased down a record 265-run target.
