Chandigarh, August 6

Commuters had a hard time navigating through waterlogged roads following rain on Monday, leading to traffic snarls on all major city roads, including Dakshin Marg and Madhya Marg.

Traffic moved at a snail’s pace between Zirakpur and Tribune Chowk with vehicles making serpentine queues. It took almost 40 minutes for commuters to reach Tribune Chowk as compared to the routine 15-minute drive. The narrow service road was also clogged with vehicles.

A similar situation was witnessed on the road from the Housing Board light point towards the Transport light point on Madhya Marg. A long traffic jam was witnessed on the stretch, leaving commuters at the receiving end.

Traffic snarls were also witnessed at the Sector 17/18/8/9 light point, the Sector 17 bus stand chowk, the Sector 16 stadium chowk and the Sector 18/19/20/21 roundabout.

Traffic snarls were also witnessed during the evening at the Sector 35/34/22/21 chowk and Tribune Chowk. Policemen were stationed at all major intersections to regulate traffic.
