CHANDIGARH:Raissa Bhannot defeated second seed Gurmannat Kaur Sandhu to make her way to the girls' U-13 finals in the ongoing 1st Chandigarh State badminton Ranking Championship, at the Sector 38 Sports Complex here today.

Chandigarh, July 16  

Raissa Bhannot defeated second seed Gurmannat Kaur Sandhu to make her way to the girls' U-13 finals in the ongoing 1st Chandigarh State badminton Ranking Championship, at the Sector 38 Sports Complex here today.

Raissa won the first set 21-18, but went down in the next 21-23. In the final set, she played well to log a 21-16 victory. In the boy's U-13 semifinal, top seed Krishna Sharma registered a comeback 14-21 21-16 21-15 win against Aryaman Dhull. He will be facing Rehaan Phutela, who defeated Dakshmeet Singh 15-21 21-17 21-19, in the final. 

Meanwhile, in the girls' U-13 doubles semis, Gurmannat Kaur and Rakshita Pahwa ousted Ahika Sharma and Pratibha 21-3 21-6 while the pair of Jasmeet Kaur and Ojasvi Dhaneshwar of Sector 38 Sports Complex logged a comeback 17-21 21-19 21-16 victory over Avishi Sood and Raisha Bhannot. In the first semis of the boys' U-13 doubles category, top seed Krishna Sharma and Rehaan stunned Aditya Kohli and Suryansh Raghav 14-21 21-16 21-16. In the second semi, Uday Rana and Vaibhav Giri overpowered Dakshmeet Singh and Danish Chopra 17-21 21-19 21-16. 

The duo of Nimar Kaur Virk and Samreen Sandhu won the girls' U-15 doubles semi by defeating second seed Aashna Jagdev and Atulya 21-10 16-21 21-16 in a tough outing. In the second semi, the top seed pair of Kanishka Kalia and Shangunpreet Kaur blanked Gurmannat Kaur and Rakshita Pahwa 21-13 21-13.

Meanwhile, in the boys' U-15 doubles category, the second seed pair of Ashwin Puri and Siddharth Modi made their way into the final by defeating Abhiroop Sarkar and Vaibhav Mehra 21-15 12-21 21-13.

Mili Verma and Vrinda Rana confirmed their berth in the girls' U-17 doubles final by defeating Khwahish Mannotra and Tanvi Gupta 21-11 21-17. They will be facing Jasmine Rawat and Naina Trehan in the final. The second finalist pair overpowered Tanisha Giri and Tishi Giri 21-10 21-16.

Jayan Garg and Udayveer won the first semi of the boys' U-17 doubles category. They defeated the second seed pair of Ishaan Jain and Sarthak Garg 21-17 10-21 21-18. The top seed pair of Hasil Tiwari and Ytharth Madaan also booked their title clash berth by defeating Arjun Parkash and Swapnil Rawat 21-18 21-15.

Samarveer defeats Deepinder in U-15 semi 

In the boys' U-15 category, top seed Samarveer won a tough outing against Deepinder Bawa. Despit losing the first set 22-24, Samarveer returned back to log 21-13 21-16 victory. In the women's semi, second seed Garima Singh defeated Sarushi Kanwar 17-21 21-13 21-12. —TNS
