Ram Darbar man drowns in Ghaggar at Panchkula

A 22-year-old man from Chandigarh partying with friends drowned in Ghaggar river near Thapli.

The deceased, Abhishek of Ram Darbar, had visited the Morni area with eight of his friends. On the way, the young men stopped near the river at Thapli village and began bathing. Abhishek went into deep waters and started drowning. His friends tried to save him, but failed. Later, they called 112.

A police team arrived at the scene and with the help of locals, Abhishek was pulled out and taken to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, where doctors declared him dead after examination.

Police outpost in-charge Jagdish said information was received about a young man from Chandigarh drowning. The family of the deceased had been informed and further investigation into the incident was underway.
