Mohali: Red Cross Society provides Rs 1.44 lakh equipment to para shuttler

The District Red Cross Society on Thursday provided sports equipment worth Rs 1.44 lakh to para badminton player Ranjit Singh, who will compete in the Spanish Para Badminton International Vitoria-Gasteiz 2026.

The BWF Para Badminton World Circuit (Grade 2 – Level 2) tournament will be held from March 16 to 22 at the Aranalde Sports Centre in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said the district administration was committed to supporting talented sportspersons, particularly para athletes, to help them perform well at national and international levels. She said earlier, sports equipment worth Rs 1.37 lakh was provided to Ranjit Singh ahead of the Para Badminton International Championship in Nigeria, where he won three bronze medals.

Describing him as a promising athlete, Mittal expressed confidence that he would continue to make the district and the state proud.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Geetika Singh, Mohali SDM Damandeep Kaur, Kharar SDM Divya P and District Red Cross Society secretary Harbans Singh were present on the occasion.
