The Chandigarh Citizens Foundation (CCF), in partnership with Delhi Public School, Sector 40 here, on Thursday organised a teachers’ training workshop titled “Reel Philosophy: Unlocking Teaching Through Film Screening,” bringing together educators from across the city to explore cinema as a dynamic classroom tool.

Led by Dr Ambuj Sharma, Assistant Professor and Head of Philosophy at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, the session delved into how films can spark philosophical enquiry, deepen real-world understanding and create space for reflective learning.

Welcoming participants, Reema Dewan, Director (Academic & Administration) at DPS and member of CCF’s Focus Group on Education, stressed the importance of continuous learning and pedagogical innovation to make classrooms more engaging and thought-driven.

A film screening and discussion formed the heart of the workshop, demonstrating how narrative storytelling can nurture critical thinking, empathy and dialogue among students.

Among those present were Kavita Chatterjee Das, convener of the CCF Focus Group on Education, and Prof Anil Monga of Panjab University.

Proposing the vote of thanks, Prof Nandita Singh from PU's Department of Education lauded the collaborative effort and said the initiative would help teachers weave philosophy, creativity and reflective thinking into everyday teaching.
