Third arrest involving cops’ kin in 15 days
This is the third arrest of a cop’s son by the crime branch in July. Earlier, Damandeep (18), son of a retired UT constable, was arrested for allegedly stealing vehicles. The police had recovered three cars from him. In another case, the son of a sub-inspector of the Chandigarh Police, was arrested for allegedly selling drugs in Police Colony at Sector 42. His sister and brother-in-law are constables in the UT police.
Accused creates ruckus outside court
One of the accused, Sunny, was brought to the District Courts complex in Sector 43 on Wednesday as he had to be produced before a magistrate. However, he created a scene outside the courtroom and tried to bang his head against a wall. Sunny screamed saying that he was innocent and the police had falsely implicated him. While continuing to be restless, he added that he should be taken to a hospital at the earliest or he would die. He was sent to judicial custody by the court and the police took him away later.
