Rock Garden, Chandigarh, to celebrate its golden jubilee tomorrow
Folk dance performances to be major highlight of celebrations
A series of cultural and public-oriented activities will be organised at the Rock Garden, a world-renowned tourist destination and a unique symbol of creativity and artistic excellence created by Padma Shri Nek Chand, to mark five decades of its existence as one of the iconic landmarks of the city on January 24.
The golden jubilee celebrations will start with the lighting of diyas and paying floral tributes at the wax statue of Nek Chand by chief guest Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary-cum-Chairman, Rock Garden Society, in the presence of the UT Chief Engineer, the Superintending Engineer-cum-Member Secretary, Rock Garden Society, and other dignitaries.
The programme will feature musical chair games and singing competitions for the general public. A major highlight of the celebration will be folk dance performances, including Bhangra, Ghoomar, Sirmouri Nati and Mayur Nritya, to be held at Phase-III of the Rock Garden in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre.
