Chandigarh, January 11
Third seed Israeli pair of Roi Ginat and Sahar Simon registered a 6-4 6-2 win over fourth seeds Han Chih Lin and Xiaofei Wang to win the boys’ doubles title on the penultimate of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors Tournament at the CLTA Complex, Sector 10, here, on Friday.
The girls’ doubles title went to Lunda Kumhom of Thailand and Yu Yun Li of Taiwan. The duo drubbed Kazakhstan’s Anastasia Astakhova and Jiagi Huang of China 6-0 6-3 in the summit clash.
Nikita eases into final
India’s Nikita Vishwase, meanwhile, continued her impressive run in the tournament as she stunned second seed Mai Napatt Nirundorn of Thailand 7-6(4) 6-4 to enter the girls’ singles final.
Nikita will play sixth seed Holly Fischer for the title. The Briton pulled off a facile 6-4 6-0 win against Malaika Rapolu of the USA in the semifinals.
In the boys’ singles semifinals, Belgium’s Raphael Collignon downed Michael Francis Eala of the Philippines 6-2 7-6(3), while second seed Stijn Pel of the Netherlands edged out eighth seed Ginat 6-3 7-5.
