The police have arrested a Ropar resident, and recovered an illegal .32 bore pistol and five rounds from his possession. On March 5, a CIA team, present at Gharuan village near Kharar-Ludhiana road, received a tip-off that one Dalvir Singh, alias Kaka, of Tajpura village in Ropar would be coming towards Kharar from the Morinda side in a white car with an illegal weapon.

The police blocked the road, and stopped and searched the car, after which the accused was arrested and the illegal weapon was seized. A case under sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered at the Kharar (Sadar) police station in this regard. During preliminary investigation, the 40-year-old accused told the police that he had purchased the weapon about 7–8 months ago. Accomplices of the accused have been named in the case. The police are conducting raids to arrest them, with more recoveries likely to be made.
