Rs 1 lakh contributed to Armed Forces Flag Day Fund
The Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated on December 7 every year
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria contributed Rs 1 lakh from the Governor’s Welfare Fund on the 77th Armed Forces Flag Day.
The Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated on December 7 every year. Appeals are made to citizens to contribute for the fund generously on this day. It is an occasion when citizens of the country show their solidarity with armed forces by wearing flags on their dresses and making contributions towards Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. The funds so collected are utilised for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families who are in dire need of financial assistance.
In Chandigarh, the inauguration of the campaign was symbolised by pinning of the flag on the dress of Gulab Chand Kataria by Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner-cum-President, Zila Sainik Board, in the presence of Col Harjeet Singh Ghuman (retd), Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Harbans Singh and other staff.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner apprised the Governor of addition of new welfare schemes for the ex-servicemen, widows and their wards.
Digital platform launched
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria launched a booklet and digital platform called “Global Disruptors Genius Hub” — a platform that brings knowledge givers and knowledge seekers together.
The Governor suggested to incorporate the portal with the mentorship component under Chandigarh Startup Policy 2025. Given Hari Om Verma’s experience, who created the platform, it was suggested to empanel him in the mentor pool under the notified policy.
