Chandigarh: The students of Classes III-V of Ryan International School, Chandigarh, brought a wide range of saplings. The children were taken to the green house of the school to keep their saplings safely for plantation. School gardeners offered tips to ensure that each sapling was carefully tended. Students of Classes I and II were explained the concept of water cycle. A well designed worksheet was provided to them and the concept was described in detail. They also painted t-Shirts on the theme environment. 

St Joseph’s Sr Sec School 

Chandigarh: An inter-class competition on 'Best Out Of Waste' was conducted for Class IV of primary II block of St Joseph's Sr Sec. School, Sector 44D, Chandigarh. Josephites used reusable and recyclable materials like plastic bottles, CD's, shoeboxes, ice-cream sticks, straws etc to create an array of display items like flower pots, slippers, wall hangings, pencil holders, photo frames etc. The winners were given prizes and certificates.

The Gurukul 

Panchkula: The Gurukul, Panchkula, celebrated Vanamahotsava. Students made beautiful banners with slogans on ‘saving trees’. The banners were put up on trees all around the school premises. The students also planted saplings. Talks were organised to sensitise students on benefits of saving environment. The students have also given up wood pencils and are using pencils made of recycled paper as a step towards saving trees.

Shishu Niketan Public School

Chandigarh: Shishu Niketan Public School, Sector 43, Chandigarh, celebrated vanamahotsava on its premises to spread awareness on importance of trees for maintaining ecological balance. Students planted saplings of different varieties of trees. They also recited poems on saving our environment.

St Xavier’s High School 

Panchkula: The Annual ICSE inter-school debate — Chandigarh region, was held at St Xavier's High School, Panchkula. The participants included students from 12 schools from the tricity, Nabha and Nahan. The topic of the debate was 'marks and grades do not reflect a student's intelligence'. A team from Strawberry Fields, Chandigarh, was adjudged as the best team. Ria Juneja of Strawberry Fields and Rajat Hooda of Little Flower Convent School bagged the best speaker award. —TNS

AKSIPS-65 

Mohali: Students of class VII of AKSIPS-65 School, Mohali, prepared and presented a street play highlighting the importance of trees for the ecosystem and mankind. The harmful effects of deforestation was presented through the play.  

Little Champ Smart School

Panchkula: SMD Little Champ Smart School, Sector 2, Panchkula, organised a puppet show for the students. The little champs enjoyed dramatic performance staged with puppets.

DAV Police Public School

Panchkula: A session on child sexual abuse was conducted by BUD Foundation at DAV Police Public School, Panchkula. The session focused on dispelling the myths around the issue of child sexual abuse, role of school teachers and how schools can focus on building preventive mechanisms for child sexual abuse.

AKSIPS-41 

Chandigarh: Students of AKSIPS-41 Smart School learn't how to make ‘aam panna’drink. The focus of the activity was to make children aware of the benefits of the drink. and learn words associated with the process of making it. 

St Teresa Convent School 

Panchkula: St Teresa Convent School organised a much awaited rain dance for the pre-primary students on the school campus. Students looked adorable in their costumes and enjoyed the event. The ground was joyfully resplendent with water sprinklers, holla hoops music.
