The pair of Saily Thakkar and Ruma Gaikaiwari won the women’s doubles final by defeating Aarushi Raval and Durganshi Kumar in straight sets 6-0 6-2, during the penultimate day of the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship at the Sector 10 Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, the team of Karan Singh and Aryan Chauhan of Haryana recorded a 6-2 6-3 win over Sarthak Sudan and Shreyas Dogial to claim the men’s doubles event.

Top seed wins

Top seed Delhi’s Sarthak Suden overpowered a tough challenge by second seed Moksh Puri before winning the men’s singles title. Suden won the first set 6-3, but faced a 5-7 defeat in the second. In the final set, he kept his cool to comeback with a 6-2 win.

In the women’s singles final, Delh’s Samriti Punyani defeated Maharashtra’s Danica Fernando in straight sets 6-3 6-4 to grab the title.

Earlier, in the men’s semifinals, top seed Delhi’s Suden overpowered fourth seed Maharashtra’s Omar Rehan Sumar 6-2 6-2. Second seed Delhi’s Puri also moved into the final by registering a convincing 6-0 6-0 win over Keshav Dangi. In the women’s semis, Maharashtra’s Danica Fernando toppled top seed Vidula Amar of Karnataka 6-3 6-2, and Delhi’s Samriti Punyani easily defeated Jeetesh Kumari 6-1 6-4.
