The Chandigarh team in a jubilant mood after defeating Delhi in the final match of the Interstate T-10 Wheelchair Cricket Tournament at Government Senior Secondary School in Sector 26, Chandigarh.

Hosts Chandigarh lifted the Interstate T-10 Wheelchair Cricket Tournament organised by the Women and Child Care Welfare Foundation in collaboration with the Institute of Development and Communication, Chandigarh, and Jan Shikshan Sansthan at the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, ground.

The local side defeated Delhi to win the tournament. Delhi had posted 126 runs at the loss of five wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Captain Prashant Singh was unbeaten on 52. For Chandigarh, Rakesh Verma took two wickets in two overs while conceding 31 runs. Sandeep Kundu and Sheel Chand took a wicket each.

In reply, Chandigarh scored 129 runs in 9.4 overs while losing two wickets. Sandeep Kundu’s unbeaten 85 runs helped the city team sail through. Captain Veer Singh remained unbeaten on 30. Delhi’s bowlers were not able to take any wicket and both the dismissals on the Chandigarh side were a result of run-outs.

In the semifinal, Chandigarh had defeated Punjab by 45 runs. The city team scored 149 runs at the loss of three wickets and Punjab was able to amass only 104 at the loss of five wickets in the allotted 10 overs.

The second semifinal was played between Rajasthan and Delhi. While Rajasthan put up 69/6 in 10 overs, Delhi posted 72/3 in just 6.4 overs to win the match by seven wickets.

Sandeep Kundu from Chandigarh was adjudged best batter of the tournament and Saurabh Malik from Delhi the best bowler. A total of Rs 51,000 was awarded to the winning team, Rs 31,000 to the first runners-up and Rs 21,000 to the second runners-up.
