Sargon Arora, Deepak Dhiman win Chandigarh badminton titles

Sargon R Arora recorded a 21-8, 21-9 win over Balwinder Kaur to win the women’s singles 60+ event on the concluding day of the Chandigarh Senior (Masters) State Badminton Championship at the Sector 42 sports complex. In the men’s singles 60+ event, Deepak Dhiman triumphed over Praveen Taneja with a 21-6, 21-4 verdict.

Mayank Gupta won the 35+ gold medal by defeating Satinder Malik 21-16, 21-10 and Ruchi Kapoor won the women’s final by defeating Renu Malik 21-12, 21-6. In the men’s 40+ singles final, Amit Sondhi faced tough competition from Akash Sethi before posting a 21-19, 16-21, 21-19 win, while Mala Gaba easily won the women’s title by defeating Saroj Meena 21-16, 21-12.

Raminder Pal Singh won the men’s 45+ final by posting a 21-6, 21-9 win over Amit Sachdeva, while Geeta Mahajan won the women’s final by defeating Monika 21-3, 21-4. In the men’s singles 50+ final, Deepak Saxena outplayed Haroon Rashid 21-16, 21-18 and Lavita Singla got the better of Neelam Singh 21-4, 21-2 to win the women’s event.

Rajpal Singh won the mixed doubles gold medal and also men’s double 55+ doubles event with Deepak. The pair defeated Malkiat Singh and Lakhvir Singh 21-10, 21-12.
