Sarthak Walia of Punjab Institute of Sports, Mohali, was adjudged the best gymnast at the 65th School State Championship, which concluded at Jalandhar today. Walia won six gold medals in the event.
Another Mohali gymnast, Jacky Sagar, who competed in the U-17 category, won seven medals, including a gold.
Jacky topped the podium in the pommel horse competition, while he finished runner-up in the floor exercise, parallel bar and high bar events.
He also claimed a bronze medal each in Roman rings and vault table.
Tamanna Sharma, also from PIS, Mohali, won three gold medals in the girls’ U-17 competition. She won a gold medal each in the uneven bar, vault table and balancing beam, and was adjudged the best gymnast in the girls’ category.
