Chandigarh: Eight NCC air wing cadets from the city have been awarded scholarships for excellence in academics. They have received Rs 6,000 each from the Cadet Welfare Society. Distributing the scholarships here on Saturday, Brig RS Thakur, Chandigarh NCC Group Commander, exhorted the cadets to strive for all-round excellence in academics as well as extra-curricular activities. He also urged them to opt for a career in the armed forces. Commanding officer of No.1 Chandigarh NCC Air Squadron, Wing Commander MR Pandeya said the cadets who received scholarships were Geetanjali Soni, Varun Sharma, Dixit Rathour, Yagyanidhi Sharma, Yogesh Ojha, Akash Bhardwaj, Akshay Dhatwalia and Aman. Special class  on motor skills 

A special workshop for parents of nursery class students was organised at the DAV-15. It was an initiative undertaken by the school to spread awareness about the right way to coordinate motor skills of tiny tots. They actively participated in activities like paper crunch, clay modelling, pebble painting, brush painting and straw fixing. TNS

Lessons on autism

Representatives of the Global Autism Project visited their partner SOREM, a special school for individuals with intellectual disabilities, on Saturday. A three-hour workshop, “In a Child’s Shoes”, was conducted for parents, teachers and other professionals to understand their child’s needs and ways to deal with the same. The first session was about various kinds of behaviour and strategies to deal with them. The second session of the workshop talked about making individuals with autism independent and self-sufficient. TNS

MCom admission schedule out 

With the release of BCom results by Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, the schedule for MCom admissions has been released. The last date for the submission of forms is July 25. The tentative merit list will be displayed on July 27 and discrepancies will be checked till July 29. The final merit list amd couselling schedule will be displayed on July 31. The centralised counselling for MCom will take place at the GCCBA, Sector 50. TNS
