Sector 17 shopkeepers defer agitation

CHANDIGARH: After getting an assurance from KK Yadav, Municipal Commissioner, traders of Sector 17 have deferred their agitation.

After getting an assurance from KK Yadav, Municipal Commissioner, traders of Sector 17 have deferred their agitation.

Neeraj Bajaj, president of the Joint Action Committee of the traders, said the Commissioner, in the presence of MC officials, assured them that the no-vending zone decision would be implemented in Sector 17 before January 5. The traders are demanding removal of illegal vendors.

The Commissioner urged the JAC to postpone the ongoing agitation. Bajaj said while they had postponed the agitation, they would continue with their symbolic peaceful protest.

The Joint Action Committee of the traders decided that if the Municipal Corporation failed to fulfil its commitment by January 5, they would aggressively fight for the implementation of the no-vending zone decision.

The meeting was attended among others by HS Guzral, Darpan Kapoor, Subhash Kataria, JPS Kalra, LC Arora, Parveen Gulati, VK Guleria, Sanjeev Chadha, Harbhajan Singh, Subhash Gulati, Ashwani Kumar, Narinder Sachdeva, Jaideep Gulati, Surinder Gulati, Ajay Arora, Ashwani Kukreja, Sanjay Bansal, Sanjay Abbot, Joginder Chadha, Rajeev Kumar and Susheel Bansal.
