The district administration on Thursday initiated the process of self-enumeration under the Census of India. The process will continue until May 14. Thereafter, Phase I of the house-to-house enumeration will be conducted from May 15 to June 13.
The administration urged the citizens to actively participate in the self-enumeration process. Citizens can log on to the portal se.census.gov.in, register themselves by entering the name of the head of the family, a mobile number and authenticate via an OTP. The process then proceeds with geo-location tagging.
The portal seeks basic household information, including type of house (kachcha or pucca), number of rooms, family size, ownership status, number of married couples, availability of drinking water and electricity, LPG/PNG connection and possession of assets such as radio, television, mobile/ smartphone, bicycles, two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
Upon successful submission of the required details, a unique self-enumeration (SE) ID is generated. This information can later be verified and corrected during the house-to-house visit by the enumerator before final confirmation.
Officials further advised citizens to verify the identity of enumerators by checking their official Government/ Census ID cards. No personal financial information, including bank account details or transactions, will be sought during the process.
