The upcoming Panjab University senate meeting, scheduled to be held on July 5, will be held online, confirmed the university’s spokesperson.

On July 2, the house has chosen 15-member syndicate body and it was for the first time that the governing body was elected unopposed as many of the members were absent from the proceedings. The 15-member body mainly includes members from BJP’s Satya Pal Jain, who is Additional Solicitor General of India, group.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Panjab University senate meeting was expected to be a high voltage affair as the House was scheduled to discuss key issues including hike in fee, after a gap of two years. Earlier, a physical meeting of the senate was called on July 5, however, as per the latest development, it will be now held online.

Earlier, during many senate meetings, Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar had directly warned the House to call online meetings during heated enhance of arguments. “He has previously threatened to call online meetings as it’s more feasible to handle the situation. It is also very convenient to pass the agendas they wished to. They could have informed this earlier, but the decision to conduct online meeting was conveyed just a day before the meeting,” said a senior member of the House.

As per a supplementary agenda, the House is scheduled to mainly discuss fee hike.
