Various students’ outfits, including Student for Society (SFS), held a demonstration at the Student Centre on the Panjab University campus here on Wednesday to show their solidarity with students of Punjabi University, who were attacked during a protest recently.
They condemned violence against their Punjabi University counterparts and demanded strict action against attackers. They raised slogans against hooliganism and urged all to be resistant. Parties, which took part in the demonstration, include the PSU Lalkaar, the All India Student Association and the SFS.
Panjab University Campus Student Council president Kanupriya said, “The culprits were ferried on vehicles and attacked protesting students with sticks despite a ban on four wheelers on the Punjabi University campus. This is sheer hooliganism and seems that it was a planned attack.”
“Students of Punjabi University have been holding demonstration for the past 22 days. Girls have every right to be free and fight against the prejudiced rule, which states that they should be inside hostels after the twilight hours,” she added.
