Unhappy with the Haryana Police probe, the 21-year-old Morni gang rape victim and her husband have now demanded that the case be transferred back to the Chandigarh Police.

Talking to Chandigarh Tribune on Sunday at her residence in Mani Majra, the victim said, “I have no trust in the Haryana Police. The very first day when my husband and I approached them to lodge an FIR against Sunny, the main accused and owner of Lovely Guest House in Morni, and the other 40-50 accused, they did not entertain our complaint. The Haryana Police rather sent us to the Mani Majra police station.”

The victim added, “I have full trust in the Chandigarh Police and the Mani Majra police station, who immediately lodged an FIR. I will now approach the High Court and will also meet the UT DGP requesting them to take over the investigation from the Haryana Police.”

The victim’s husband said, “On the fateful day when the Panchkula Police refused to entertain us, it was the UT police who provided help to me and my wife. We have full trust in the UT police.”

“We are fighting for justice and will knock every possible door, whether it is the judiciary or the police, to get justice. My wife and I will write to senior officials of the UT police and will request them to investigate the matter,” the victim’s husband added.

It’s a fair probe, say Panchkula Police

Panchkula Police Commissioner Charu Bali said, “The Panchkula police are investigating the case and will continue to do so. The police are conducting a fair investigation.”

Victim approached women police station

Initially, the victim and her husband had approached the Panchkula women police station, but they were asked to contact the Mani Majra police station. The Mani Majra police had lodged an FIR and had arrested two accused. Later, when the issue was highlighted in the media, the case was transferred to the Panchkula police.
