Shivalik ton floors Haryana

CHANDIGARH:Shivalik Sharma smashed a quick-fire ton before Dhruv Patel and skipper NA Rathva shared six wickets between them to help Baroda register a 122-run win over Haryana in their Elite Group C match of the Men’s Cricket U-23 One Day League and Knockout tournament at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Shivalik Sharma smashed a quick-fire ton before Dhruv Patel and skipper NA Rathva shared six wickets between them to help Baroda register a 122-run win over Haryana in their Elite Group C match of the Men’s Cricket U-23 One Day League and Knockout tournament at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Put in to bat, Baroda rode on Sharma’s 73-ball 100 to score 323/9 in 50 overs. SS Desai made a patient 72, while Mohit Mongia added 37 runs to the total. Abhimanyu Singh remained unbeaten 29.

Aman Kumar (3/39) and MM Boora (3/52) claimed three wickets each for Haryana, while SP Jain (1/40) and AR Rana (1/75) took a wicket apiece.  

Chasing a challenging total, Haryana lost half of their side for just 88 runs. JH Saroha and Boora stretched the total to 177 runs before Dhruv Patel ended the 54-run partnership between the two. 

Saroha holed out to PS Kohli after making a painstaking 34 off 58.   

Boora was the last man to fall, caught by Rathva off Mongia on 52, as Haryana wrapped their innings on 201. 

Patel (3/42) and Rathva (3/39) shared six wickets between them, while Abhimanyu Singh claimed 2/42 in his nine overs.    

Haryana will play Assam in their next match on Wednesday. The side had earlier registered a five-wicket win over Hyderabad, while they lost to Himachal Pradesh by six wickets in their lung opener. 

Haryana side is currently placed seventh with four points from three matches. Baroda leads Elite Group C with 16 points from four matches.   

Punjab to play UP today

Meanwhile, Punjab will play Uttar Pradesh at KL Saini Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday. The side after beating Jammu and Kashmir by nine wickets in their opening match registered a 70-run win over Team Rajasthan. They beat Mumbai by three wickets  in their third match on Sunday and are placed second in the Elite Group A and B with 12 points. 

Karnataka lead the chart with equal points but better run rate.
