Shots fired at realtor’s office near Mullanpur Garibdas in Mohali after extortion call

Two unidentified assailants fired five gunshots at the office of a property dealer at Hoshiarpur village near Mullanpur Garibdas on Wednesday night.

Sukhdarshan Singh, a local property dealer having an office near flour mill, had reportedly got an extortion call of Rs 1 crore from a member of the Lucky Patial gang.

Area residents and businessmen said a state of fear and panic pervades among businessmen here.

Patial, himself a native of nearby Khuda Lahora, is currently operating from abroad. He has several cases of extortion and Arms Act registered against him at various police stations of Punjab and Chandigarh.

Businessmen, Punjabi film celebrities and real estate dealers have repeatedly complained against the Patial gang members and other gangsters for extortion bids.

A case under Section 308, 125, 324, 61 (5) of the BNS and Arms Act has been registered at the Mullanpur police station. Police officials are scanning the CCTV footage of the area. Senior police officials were unavailable for a comment.
