Resident of Sirhind town, led by former MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra, on Friday staged a protest alleging that they have been getting muddy drinking water for the past two months.
They also claimed non-supply of water for the past three days. The protesters said they have been getting muddy water despite repeated complaints, forcing them to stage a protest now.
Councillors Reeta Rani and Vaisakhi Ram said no effort has been made to repair the water pump installed near Bachat Bhawan in Fatehgarh Sahib, resulting in the supply of contaminated supply.
They said the water pump installed near the BSNL office in the town is also lying defunct for the many days while the one installed near the Naina Devi temple is not working properly.
The SDO, Water Supply, said new water motors will be installed soon to ensure proper supply.
