Chandigarh: St Xavier’s High School, Panchkula, will organise the ICSE Speed Skating Championship at the Sector 10 skating rink on November 17.



Chandigarh: St Xavier’s High School, Panchkula, will organise the ICSE Speed Skating Championship at the Sector 10 skating rink on November 17. Students up to Class X, in both boys’ and girls’ categories, can participate in the championship, the organisers said here on Monday. Around 200 skaters are expected to compete in the day-long event, the organisers added. TNS

CGC Jhanjeri spikers win

Mohali: CGC Jhanjeri girls won the inter-college volleyball tournament organised by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Girls’ teams from seven colleges participated in the tournament held at IET Bhaddal, Ropar. In the final, CGC Jhanjeri registered a 25-12 25-16 win over PTU Campus Jalandhar. Earlier, the side had beat CGC Landran 25-10 25-8 before thumping BCET Gurdaspur 25-11 25-15 in the semifinals. TNS

Volleyball meet on Nov 30 

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Volleyball Association will organise the Chandigarh State Junior and Senior Volleyball Championships from November 30. The three-day-long championship will be held at the Sector 7 Sports Complex, the sports body said here on Monday. During the championship probables will be selected to represent Chandigarh in the forthcoming junior and senior National championships, the organisers added. Players born on or after January 1, 2001, will be eligible to compete in the junior category. TNS

Aashna triumphs 

Chandigarh: Aashna Bagri has won the Asia Pacific International Dance Championship held in Bangkok. The 15-year-old salsa performer from Panchkula clinched the title after topping the podium in the solo open. Aashna pipped contestants from 10 countries of the Asia Pacific region to clinch the coveted title. Aashna was the youngest to participate and win in the Asia Pacific International Dance Championship. She also became the youngest Indian to qualify for the World Salsa Summit to be held in January 2019 in Miami, USA. TNS

Bhavik wins bronze 

Chandigarh: Bhavik Jindal of St Soldier's School has clinched a bronze medal in the fifth Stepping Stones Open Inter-School Taekwondo Championship held at Stepping Stones School, Sector 38. The five-year-old studies in UKG. TNS
