Three snatching incidents have been reported from the city. Miscreants snatched a purse from a visually impaired woman teacher while she was getting down from a rickshaw along with her husband, who is also visually impaired, outside their house in Sector 32.
Police sources said the victim, Vanita Saini, a teacher at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, returned home along with her husband around 2.40 pm when two motorcycle-borne miscreants came from the rear and snatched her purse.
The purse contained Rs 400, a mobile phone, important documents and other valuables. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera installed at a house opposite the victim’s house.
Both miscreants were wearing helmets and black jackets. The police have collected the CCTV footage and registered a case at the Sector 34 police station.
The second snatching incident was reported from Sector 47 around 3.15 pm, where two miscreants riding a motorcycle snatched a gold chain from a woman.
Sources said the victim, 65-year-old Usha Jain, a resident of Sector 47, reported that the miscreants snatched her gold chain near her house. The accused approached her on the pretext of asking for an address.
The third snatching incident was reported from Sector 38 around 6.30 pm.
Sources said two miscreants riding a motorcycle sped away after snatching a gold earring from the victim, Anita, a resident of Sector 38. The incident took place near Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School, Sector 38.
