Chandigarh, April 25
The Department of Labour, Chandigarh, has rectified the software in order to make online registration of shops easier.
The department had made online registration of shops mandatory from April 1, but traders faced issues while submitting their forms. As per the Shop and Registration Act, the traders had to renew their registration every year by April 30. And failure to renew would invite penalty.
Subhash Kataria, president, Traders Association Sector 17, said they met the Deputy Commissioner, Mandip Singh Brar, who refused to extend the deadline.
He said the NIC Department explained the traders how to fill the application.
Jagdish Pal Singh Kalra, general secretary, Traders Association Sector 17, said as traders do not have much time left for registration, the association would organise camps to facilitate the traders tomorrow in Sector 17 and 23.
Shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, banks, service stations, medical laboratories and restaurants, among others, are required to register under the Act every year.
