A fine 49-run contribution by Sonakshi Solanki led Mumbai to record a 30-run win over Chandigarh in the ongoing Women’s U-15 One Day Trophy match in Indore. This was Chandigarh’s second defeat in two matches. Batting first, Mumbai posted 173/8, and in reply, city eves posted 143/7 in 33 overs.
Mumbai opener Vedika Nikam (0) was found short of crease by Tanvi, while Ria Thakur (4) was run out by Annvi Rana. Down to 25/2, Mumbai innings got a new lease of life as Sonakshi and Anisha Rout (39) raised a 79-run stand for the third wicket.
Navjot Gujjar claimed Anisha to give Chandigarh a major breakthrough. Mayuri Garg claimed Unnati Patil (1), while Navjot claimed Sonakshi (49) and Mudra (0) to reduce the side to 119/6. However, Shurtika Sachin Patil posted 34 . She was ably supported by Kasturi Shah (17) towards the end. Navjot completed her 3/26.
In reply, Chandigarh lost both openers, Aayu (4) and Annvi (9). Navjot held the crease for a while, but Tavni (7), Riya Yadav (9) and Kiranjot Kaur (3) failed to stable the innings. Navjot (40) and skipper Hitanshi (38) helped the side to post 143.
Punjab log another win
In Vizianagaram, Punjab eves posted a six-wicket win over Baroda. Batting first, Baroda posted 155/8. In reply, Punjab recorded a solid start with Ahnis Kaur posting 64. Her innings was ably supported by Gunsakhi (31) and Varsha Rani (20). Jaismeet Kaur also contributed 19.
Jaismeet claimed 3/23 to be the leading wicket taker and restrict Baroda to 155. Japneet Kaur took 2/26. Nyasa Thakur scored 50 and Janvi Vanarase posted 36 for Baroda. — TNS
