Abhishek, Ishita win junior badminton crowns

Chandigarh, April 17

Abhishek Saini won the U-19 singles title of the Shivalik Cup badminton tournament held at the North Zone Badminton Academy, Sector 41, today. In the final match, Saini beat Shivam 21-15, 21-12 to lift the trophy.

In the girls U-19 singles final, Ishita outplayed Garima 21-10, 21-6 in a one-sided match to win the title.

Shaurya Madan won the boys U-17 singles title. Mandan registered a hard-fought 21-12, 14-21, 21-19 win over Anuj Gupta.

Ishita prevailed over Simranjit Kaur 23-25, 21-17, 21-17 in a gruelling match to win the girls U-17 singles title.  

The pair of Kevin Wong and Vinayak won the boys U-19 doubles title. In the final, they defeated Manmohit and Talwinder 18-21, 21-18, 21-17.   

In the girls U-19 doubles final, Garima and Ishita beat Hritika and Romil 21-10, 13-21, 21-16 in a three-setter.
