Chandigarh, August 16

St John’s High School, Sector 26, defeated hosts St Solider International School, Sector 28, by a solitary goal to win the 12th Saint Soldier Football Tournament.

Rishit scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute. The hosts tried their best to find the equaliser. However, the Sector 26 defenders managed to defend their one-goal lead till the final whistle. Sagalpreet won the best defender title, while Rudransh of St John’s School was declared best goalkeeper. Gurjot Singh of the host team was adjudged as the best scorer and Abhimanyu earned the title of the best player of the tournament.

Col Paramjit Singh, Commanding Officer 2, Chandigarh Battalion, NCC, awarded the winners and runners-up along with Ravinder Pal Singh Hayer, Vijaya Sidhu and principal Anisha Ghuman. A total of 16 schools participated in the championship. — TNS
